A police officer accused of leaking photos of former North Melbourne coach Dani Laidley has lost his job over the sharing of unrelated crime scene photos.
Detective Leading Senior Constable Murray Gentner was sacked yesterday following a Victoria Police disciplinary hearing.
"Professional Standards Commanded charged the 45-year-old man with one count of disgraceful/improper conduct in February and he was suspended without pay," a Victoria Police spokesperson said in a statement.
The spokesperson said the charge related to the sharing of crime scene photos via a messaging app.
"Three other officers were also charged with one count of disgraceful/improper conduct and will appear before a disciplinary hearing at a date yet to be set," the spokesperson said.
Gentner was one of the officers investigated after photos were shared of Laidley wearing a long blonde wig and a dress after her arrest outside a St Kilda home in May 2020.
His dismissal is unrelated to those images.
Chief Commissioner Shane Patton at the time described the alleged dissemination of the pictures as "appalling" and "unlawful" at the time.
